Background
On January 4, 2024, Endeavour Mining plc (“Endeavour”) issued a press release announcing the termination of its CEO Sébastien de Montessus “for serious misconduct” following an “investigation by the Board into an irregular payment instruction issued by him in relation to an asset disposal undertaken by the Company. The amount of this irregular payment instruction is US$5.9 million. The Board recently became aware of this in the course of a review of acquisitions and disposals, which is ongoing.”
On this news, Endeavour’s share price dropped from a close of $28.89 on January 3 to $25.98 at close on January 4, or -$2.91.
